Last week, Satoru Iwata talked about a new Wii Channel that allows players to buy Virtual Console games and send them to their friends as gifts. Now the new channel has been confirmed for a worldwide release this December:

The Wii Gift feature, announced last week, will be launching worldwide in December, Satoru Iwata has confirmed.

The new option will enable gamers to send games purchased in the Wii Shop Channel to other Wii owners as a gift - a brilliant idea, we say.

I really hope this comes out a couple weeks before Christmas. It was also confirmed in the article that the DS would be getting new functions for using as a ‘tool’ in places like movie theatres, train stations, or even using it to look up TV Guides.
